What is a developer if they aren't writing code?
As AI becomes more capable at writing code, we as developers may be wondering if there's still room for us. What do humans still do better than AI?
Many of us have been taught to ignore or dismiss our uniquely human skills. But our human skills are essential tools for doing excellent technical work and for working well with AI. Studies have shown that while AI can outperform humans on some tasks, humans and AI working together often outperform AI working alone.
Our humanity is also the key to healing from burnout, finding renewed meaning and purpose in our work, and managing stress, isolation, and plateaus. Skills such as: building trust and influence, handling complexity and ambiguity, systems thinking, intuition and judgment based on experience, collaboration, communication, empathy, and creativity.
That's what I am exploring in my writing.
I'm ready
Those of you who have worked with me know that I'm known for writing extensive documentation. You might not know that I was also an English major in college. Writing was my first love, even before computer programming.
I'm a graduate of The Book Academy, a book writing and publishing intensive offered by 4x New York Times best-selling author, Luvvie Ajayi Jones.
Luvvie teaches everything one could want to know about book publishing, providing a clear path from ideation to publishing to making the book a success, step by step. The course offers access to resources and contacts and a whole community of fellow authors for support and coworking sessions.

Am I going to be in the book?
My favorite question so far! My coworkers asked: "have you chosen aliases for us all yet?"
And the answer is… maybe 😉
I've learned a ton from the people I've worked with along the way. Whether they were peers, supervisors, mentors… I've been fortunate to work with some smart, talented, and wise people. I'm sure I'll be naming names if you've been an inspiration.
Well. If you've been a positive inspiration. If you've been a nuisance… and there have been a few… I won't name those names 🙂
